In case you missed it – there actually was a very special moment during last night’s Emmy broadcast: a couple got engaged. Yes, ladies and gentlemen…the ante has officially been upped as it relates to the business of love – and the Internet has been losing its collective mind since.
It all began normally enough. Director Glenn Weiss scored a statue for his work on “The Oscars.” And then, he noted that he lost his mother two weeks ago. As he went on to thank his girlfriend, Jan Svendsen, he added: “You wonder why I don’t like to call you my girlfriend. It’s because I wanna call you my wife.”
Everyone in the auditorium gasped – she was clearly bowled over – and the crowd ushered her to join him on the stage. When Jan got to him, he lifted up a ring and noted that it was “the ring that my dad put on my mom’s finger 67 years ago.” He slipped it on, they sealed the deal with a smooch – and everyone went nuts
